MOSES LAKE — Halloween came early for some local chickens.

There was no trick, just a treat, when an unknown truck spilled a large amount of corn kernels in the intersection of Grape Drive and state Route 17 at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

According to David Bren, municipal services director for the city of Moses Lake, when public works employees arrived, local chicken farmers were already there to help clean up the mess.

“Many chickens got a special treat today,” Bren wrote in an email.

The farmers and how they came upon the corn kernels were unknown, but the chickens likely were clucking with joy.
