City finishes intersection work
The finishing touches of construction on the Stratford and Valley roads intersection will be done after months of delays.
In an email to the Columbia Basin Herald, Moses Lake spokesperson Lynne Lynch wrote the paving of the intersection has been completed and clean-up work is projected to be done Friday.
The intersection was closed Sept. 21-22 for grinding and paving and at night Sept. 28 for permanent striping.
During a period when there was no contractor at the site, city workers filled in parts of sidewalks to make the intersection safe for pedestrians.
In the Herald’s last coverage of the construction Aug. 30, the city of Moses Lake received one bid to complete the construction work by a company, which was the only bidder in the city’s previous request for bidders.
However, the city authorized a reinstatement contract with C&R Tractor and Landscaping, which previously defaulted on the project and caused some of the delays, to help finish the work. The reinstatement contract included requirements of onsite project management and committing to completion of the project per city specifications, according to a social media post by the city.
