Betty Lu Smith (Tubbs), 80, of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sept. 23, 2021.

Betty Lu was born May 17, 1941, in Missoula, Montana, to Annah and Ernest Tubbs. After graduation, she moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where she raised her three children. In 1988, she went to work for Trident Seafoods in Alaska, and met the love of her life, Steve Smith, and they were married on Nov. 18, 1989.

Betty Lu is preceded in death by her parents Annah and Ernest Tubbs, brothers Ernest (Bud) Tubbs and Richard Tubbs, sisters Lucretia Denman and Rose Cahoon, son Richard Simpson Sr. and great-granddaughter Mystic Simpson.

She is survived by her loving husband Steve Smith; son Ted Simpson of Moses Lake, Washington; daughters Annah (Warren) Strader of Moses Lake, Washington, Sandy (Eddie) Anderson of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, Jill Little of Beaverton, Oregon, and Elaine Garcia of Hillsboro, Oregon; sisters, Annah (Gary) Wilmonen of Lolo, Montana, Kathy (Billy) Estes of Kalispell, Montana, Mary Lou Hodge of Oakdale, Minnesota, Merry (Jim) Henderson of Hall, Montana, and Carol Wertz of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren Nachole (Dave) Zickuhr, Katherine (Tom) Schumer, Richard Jr. (Tessa) Simpson, Ted (Indya) Simpson, Darren (Katie) Strader, Danny (Jenny) Simpson, Amanda (Roger) Skjelstad, Heather Simpson, Brittany (Cris) Simpson, Brianna (George) Godina, Alyssa (Alec) Brainard, Yvonne Hawkins, Madalynn Garcia, and Amarayn Garcia, plus 20 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
