New sign welcomes motorists to Soap Lake

The city of Soap Lake received an upgrade just before Thanksgiving in the form of a new city sign.

The sign is located along state Route 17 on the right side of the road when heading north into Soap Lake from Basin Street Northwest.

The new sign reads “Welcome to Soap Lake” with a subhead of “Your cure for the ordinary.”

The old sign, with the same wording, was a dark-brown wood color, with white and yellow lettering.

According to a social media post in Soap Lake for Locals on Friday, the sign was installed by William Marshall of Soap Lake-based Marshall Signs & Graphics and was paid for by Lodging Tax/Tourism dollars. The post states Soap Lake City Council member Kat Sanderson proposed the project earlier this year and it was approved by the council shortly thereafter.

Deb Parmeter Still, who posted photos to social media Wednesday wrote, “A big thank you to William Marshall from Marshall’s Signs for this stunning addition to our town. The large white lettering is 3-D and stands out nicely.”
