Letter: Levy vote is an investment in the community
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Moses Lake,
I want to thank you for your support of our 8,000-plus children attending schools here in our lovely hometown. Without your support, our children could have been considered second-rate citizens.
What bothers me greatly is the low level of voter turnout and the very high percentage of negative votes that were cast.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected votes, but it cannot be allowed to destroy the future of our children.
I realize there was negative press recently over the second high school naming, location and staffing.
I would suggest that if you have concerns, you could start by attending school board meetings, speaking with individual board members, attending your child’s school, talking with their teachers and sharing your concerns.
Don’t let your exchanges result in negative thoughts. Keep your interactions positive.
Your positive school votes have secured a thriving community and our children can move forward.
I would like to thank the many volunteers who willingly stepped forth in putting our children first. It was a team effort.
The benefits to our community will be many.
Thank you for passing the levy.
Dick Deane
