Local business has winter boot drive

MOSES LAKE — The owners of Desert Graphics Inc. are sponsoring what may be an unusual project to provide foster children with winter boots.

Desert Graphics owner Dani Smith said people don’t have to buy kids winter boots. Instead, people can come into the business at 1235 E. Wheeler Road and buy a pair of boots Smith has on display in the store through Dec. 20. She will donate a pair of boots for every pair purchased, she said.

She sponsored a coat drive with the same format last year, she said, and the response was impressive.

“The community outpouring was just amazing,” she said.

People bought so many coats she had to buy more, she said.

Managers of the foster care system told her they had enough coats and blankets in 2021, she said, but they didn’t have enough boots. So Smith found some boots.

“I just wanted the kids to have something warm,” she said.

If the boots sell out, she’ll buy more, she said.
