Basin schools to send 25 runners to state cross-country competition

PASCO — Twenty-five student athletes from Grant and Adams counties were chosen to participate in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association State Cross Country Tournament on Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Eleven are from Royal High School, 10 are from Ephrata High School, two are from Othello High School and two are from Moses Lake High School. Nine of the 25 are sophomores.

The races for each school classification will be staggered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and participants will run a 3.1-mile course.

The following athletes are participating.

Royal High School: Freshmen Jesus Mendoza and Cindy Rincon; sophomores Eduardo Alvarado, Kenia Orth, Aram Garnick, Santiago Gonzalez, Fabian Meza; juniors Alexis Diaz and Abraham Montoya; seniors Vidal Abundiz and Josue Gonzalez

Ephrata High School: Freshman Isaiah Ahrend; sophomores Aidan Devine, Hayden Malone, Hans Roberts and Hayden Roberts; juniors Alexa Laughlin, Max Hewitt and Lain Wurl; seniors Skyler Hinkey and Josue Sanchez

Othello High School: seniors Jenifer Guerrero and Sulibeth Mondragon

Moses Lake High School: juniors Ethan LaBonte and Camryn Holterhoff
