Roundup: Ephrata’s Gavin Burns sinks buzzer-beater to defeat Brewster 73-71

Boys basketball

Ephrata 73, Brewster 71

Gavin Burns made a last-second shot for the win Tuesday. Kyle Hendrick finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Ethan Black finished with 17 points. Ephrata head coach Brandon Evenson said his bench gave the team some great energy in the first half.

Royal 89, Quincy 51

Jace Allred and Luke Bergeson both finished with 17 points for Royal, with Allred adding five assists. Caleb Christensen finished with 15 points, while Trenton Dorsing finished with 14.

For Quincy, Aidan Heikes finished with 16 points. Saul Alvarez chipped in 14 and TreyVaughn Bierlink added 10.

Moses Lake 63, Eastmont 69

Marshall Tibbs finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds Tuesday. Cayden Hart added 11 points and seven assists.

Anna Olson led the Chiefs with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals. Teagan Wiltbank finished with 11 points, three rebounds and three steals. Olivia Mayo added 10 points and five boards, while Olivia Waites led the team on the glass with nine rebounds, adding four points and four assists.

Ephrata 44, Brewster 35

Hayden Mills finished with 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Tigers earlier this week. Alessa Soto added nine points and five steals while Julia Davis finished with nine.

The Big Bend Community College Vikings were outscored by 13 points in the second half as they fell in their final game of the season against SpokaneCommunity College Tuesday night. Jahvonta Jones poured in 32 points on 13-17 shooting. Keenan Miller finished with 21, Landon Harrington finished with 13 and DJ Frye added 11.

Women’s basketball

Big Bend 83, Spokane 69

Kelsey Sorenson had a monster game for Big Bend, finishing with 31 points, 20 rebounds and three blocks in the win. Kaitlyn Callahan chipped in 17, while Emily Gorrell added 10 and Camy Balderree added 10 points off the bench.

College baseball

Big Bend 11, Wenatchee Valley 2

Four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth inning boosted Big Bend in the first game of the doubleheader Sunday. Parker Plato finished 3-4 from the plate with four RBIs, a triple and a double. Austin Bunn knocked a home run, finishing 1-3. Vance Alvarado pitched seven innings for the Vikings, finishing with six strikeouts and two runs allowed on three hits.

Big Bend 15, Wenatchee Valley 5

The Vikings knocked six home runs as a team in the second game Sunday. Austin Bunn finished with three homers, going 3-5 with four RBIs. Dominic Signorelli, Brandham Ponce and Zach Valdez each knocked a homer. Ponce added a triple and a double from the plate, while Signorelli added a double.
