New pavement rolls out in Grant County

| May 25, 2021 1:00 AM

Central Washington Asphalt Inc. and Shamrock Paving Inc. are stationed this week between mileposts 148 and 152 on Interstate 90, east of George, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The contractors are continuing their project of planing and paving the roadway with hot mix asphalt to prolong its life and provide a smoother surface to the public.

The state Route 281 and state Route 281 Spur exits are closed while the paving occurs, with a signed detour in place. Expect lane closures and reduced speed where the contractors are surfacing the bridge decks.

Meanwhile, a crew is paving the road surface between the junction of U.S. Route 2 and state Route 155 to the west of Almira, from mileposts 203 to 207. They will be there from 6 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Expect flagger controlled traffic and brief delays there, too.
