A Salvadoran man — sentenced in Grant County for third-degree child rape — was among 10 migrants caught Saturday evening while attempting to illegally enter the U.S. near Abrams, Texas, according to a Monday release from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency.

Raul Antonio Sanchez, 28, was arrested by Moses Lake police and sentenced to 34 months in prison (2.8 years) and 36 months of community service after pleading guilty in 2016 to the child sex crime.

An unaccompanied child and another Salvadoran, convicted in 2016 in New York of second-degree sexual abuse against someone younger than 14, Rafael Rauda-Lopez, 49, also were among the illegal migrants.

Border patrol agents “processed the subjects accordingly,” the release stated. No further information was provided about their whereabouts.
