Warden farmers take first place in corn yield contest

WARDEN — Boe and Shawn Clausen of Warden recently earned first-place state awards in the 2020 National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) National Corn Yield Contest, placing them among the highest corn yield producers in the nation, according to a press release from the Bayer Group, which owns the DEKALB brand of corn that the Clausens entered.

Boe Clausen placed with DEKALB DKC54-38RIB brand corn yielding an outstanding 316 bushels per acre in the Conventional Irrigated category, while Shawn Clausen placed with DEKALB DKC49-72RIB brand corn yielding an outstanding 276 bushels per acre in the No-Till Irrigated category.

This is the 56th NCGA contest, which challenges farmers to achieve record-setting yields with improved management practices that can help farmers everywhere, according to the release. This year’s event garnered 7,869 entries.
