Four people were injured Sunday afternoon in a four-vehicle collision on state Route 17 at milepost 24, south of Othello in Adams County.

Kyle J. Newman, 31, of Tonasket, was driving his 2015 Dodge Charger southbound, just before 3:38 p.m., behind Clemente Martinez, 49, of Othello, who slowed his 2015 Toyota Highlander to turn left into a driveway.

Newman’s vehicle struck Martinez’, pushing it into the northbound lane, and causing it to strike a northbound 2016 Cadillac XTS head-on, driven by Miguel Flores, 48, of Othello, according to the Washington State Patrol. The Cadillac rolled and came to rest on its top in the northbound ditch.

Andrea J. Klupenger, 50, of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, was driving north and swerved her 2005 GMC Sierra into the northbound ditch to avoid striking the other vehicles.

Flores, along with Martinez and his two passengers, Cameron J. Weimer, 17, of Greenacres, and Tamara A. Weimer, 50, of Greenacres, were injured and taken to Othello Community Hospital. Cameron Weimer was not wearing a seat belt.

Klupenger, along with Newman and his two passengers, Dustin P. Hurlert, 42, of Omak, and Jacob W. Newman, 34, of Bow, were not injured.

Kyle Newman may face a citation for following too closely. The road was closed for about two hours.
