Gina Bullis hired for consulting work for OSD

OTHELLO — Former Othello School District administrator Gina Bullis has been hired to work with the district as an operations consultant.

Bullis, owner and CEO of Go Beyond Consulting in Othello, began work with the district this week. Her contract runs through Aug. 31, 2022.

Interim superintendent Pete Perez said the financial impact on the district will be minimal.

“We don’t have an assistant superintendent on the payroll, and that allows us to add this resource to our district during the transition,” Perez said. “We are excited to have Gina rejoin our team in this role. She has extensive knowledge of our system and community.”

Ed Petersen, OSD director of communications, said Bullis will focus on three areas, including long term facility planning, leadership development and reviewing existing administrative practices.

Facility planning has been a subject of extensive discussion among Othello School Board members and district officials. Board members decided in February to hire a consultant to work on a plan to upgrade and expand Othello High School, and look at other district facility needs.

Bullis will review the system’s current administrative practices and recommend improvements.

“She (Bullis) will work with district directors and departments to determine needs and will facilitate a system reset or redesign,” Petersen said.

She also will work on providing opportunities for leadership training and support for district administrators.

“Much of this work will carry over into the 2021-22 school year, but the scope of Bullis’ work will expand to include working to implement the interim superintendent’s entry plan and focusing on efforts to achieve the district’s goals in strategic focus areas,” Petersen said.

Bullis was the OSD assistant superintendent of finance and operations from 2001-10 and 2011-17. Her company, Go Beyond Consulting, provides services for K-12 operations and finance, as well as educational leadership development.

“I look forward to rejoining the OSD team,” Bullis said. “I look forward to putting my experience and expertise to work as our schools move forward to emerge from this pandemic stronger, more effective and more efficient.”
