RITZVILLE — People who want to file for offices up for election in Adams County are encouraged to file online, but can file in person at the Adams County elections office, 106 W. Main St., in downtown Ritzville.

Adams County Auditor Heidi Hunt said Monday online filing hours are slightly different than in person. People can file online beginning at 9 a.m. May 17 until 4 p.m. May 21. Candidates who are unfamiliar with the online procedure can contact the auditor’s office, Hunt said.

“We’ve talked people through it many times,” she said.

Candidates can access the online filing system during filing week through the county’s website, www.co.adams.wa.us, and click on the “elections” tab.

In-person filings will be accepted during elections office business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Local offices open for election in 2021 include mayoral, city councils, school boards and port districts. A list of the offices is available on the county’s website under the elections tab.

In addition to the Othello mayor and three seats on the Othello City Council, three seats are open on the Othello School Board. One seat is open on the Adams County Fire District 5 commission, one on the Othello Community Hospital board, and one on the Port of Othello commission.

The Othello mayor’s position and Othello council seats require a filing fee paid at the time of filing and are non-refundable.

People who have questions can contact the auditor’s office at 509-659-3249.
