Weekend prep roundup: Moses Lake High School softball sweeps rival Wenatchee

Moses Lake 20, Wenatchee 6

Sixteen runs in the second inning led the Chiefs on their way to a commanding win over rival Wenatchee on Friday afternoon. Taylor Hofheins and Laurissa Martinez notched three hits apiece with a home run each and a combined seven RBIs between them. Madi Olson finished 4-4 from the plate with three RBIs and a pair of doubles.

Moses Lake 17, Wenatchee 6

Trailing 5-4 after the first inning, Moses Lake brought in nine runs of their own over the next two innings on the way to a five-inning win. Madi Olson, Laurissa Martinez and Raegan Hofheins finished 3-4 from the plate. Martinez knocked two home runs, while Olson finished with a pair of doubles.

Ephrata 7, Eastmont 8

A five-run seventh inning gave the Tigers a 7-6 lead before Eastmont came back in the bottom of the inning with a pair of runs to win Saturday. Kylar Heston finished with four RBIs, including a three-run home run in the seventh. Rylee Peters pitched 11 strikeouts, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits.

Ephrata 10, Eastmont 3

Jocelyn Eisen chipped in two RBIs on a 3-4 game, 6-7 for the day, on top of a home run and a double as the Tigers prevailed 10-3 over Eastmont in the second game of the doubleheader. Paige Wood chipped in three RBIs. On the mound, Eisen surrendered three runs on six hits along with four strikeouts.

Ephrata 2, Moses Lake 0

A pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning was enough to clinch the win for the Tigers in the opening game against the Chiefs on Friday. Gavin Burns finished with 10 strikeouts for Ephrata while giving up no runs and allowing two hits.

Moses Lake’s Michael Getzinger gave up no hits in seven innings from the mound, with just two runs earned and six strikeouts.

Moses Lake 6, Ephrata 3

Three runs in the top of the seventh inning broke up a 3-3 tie for Moses Lake on their way to the win in the second game of the Friday doubleheader. Asher Lindgren finished with three RBIs to lead Moses Lake.

Garet Hagy and Gavin Burns both finished 2-4 from the plate for the Tigers, with Burns adding a double.

Royal 13, Cascade 1

The Knights gained 16 hits as a team against Cascade in the first game of the doubleheader Friday. Seven Royal players finished with multiple hits at the plate. Kevin Reyes added a home run and a team-high three RBIs while Cooper Christensen notched a double and a triple.

Royal 12, Cascade 6

A late four-run sixth inning let Royal pull away in the second game against Cascade on Friday evening. Cooper Christensen and Derek Bergeson both finished with three hits and a combined three triples and two doubles between them.

Othello 8, Clarkston 2

A five-run sixth inning gave Othello the edge against Clarkston on Saturday afternoonn. Rodrigo Garza finished 3-4 from the plate to lead the Huskies with a pair of RBIs and two doubles.

Jonathan Gomez pitched the entire game, surrendering two runs off four hits with seven strikeouts.

Othello 5, Clarkston 2

The Huskies defense held Clarkston to two runs earned for both games on Saturday on their way to the sweep. Nathan Garza Jr. finished 2-4 from the plate for Othello with one RBI and a triple.

Rodrigo Garza pitched six innings, giving up two runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Boys soccer

Moses Lake 6, Chelan 2

Iden Bone and Alex Landa both scored twice for the Chiefs in the 6-2 win over Chelan on Saturday. Jesús Taboada and Reynaldo Rodríguez added a goal apiece. Moses Lake will host Wahluke this Tuesday.

Wahluke 2, Wenatchee 2 (3-4, penalties)

After being down 2-0, Orlando Nuñez scored off an assist from Orlando Erazo to cut the lead to 2-1. Oscar Perez evened the game at 2-2 off an assist from Diego Olivares with less than 20 minutes to play. The Panthers came out on top in penalties 4-3. Saul Arrieta finished with eight saves, including two in extra time.
