Quincy fire displaces three families

A fire damaged a four-unit apartment building Monday night in Quincy, displacing three families. No injuries were reported.

Grant County Fire District 3 responded to the Birch Street Apartments, at 1010 Birch St. SW, at approximately 7:30 p.m., said Deputy Chief Jim Kling. Grant County Fire District 13 also provided aid. The fire was contained in 40 minutes, Kling said.

Red Cross was called, which then coordinated the relocation of the families, Kling said. This is protocol in any emergency where this is required.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
