Cattail fire threatens nearby homes

Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District 5 responded to a fire Tuesday afternoon in the 1300 block of West Marina Drive.
Seven firefighters responded at 5:05 p.m., led by MLFD Chief Brett Bastian, officials said. Since the fire was in cattails, firefighters entered from multiple points.
The fire threatened nearby homes, but it was knocked down at 6 p.m. and left no damage. No injuries were reported.
Afterward, firefighters burned cattails to prevent the situation from recurring. The cause was unknown as of Tuesday evening.
