Grant County approaches 9,000 cases of COVID-19
The total of reported COVID-19 cases in Grant County rose approximately 900 from the end of January, reaching 8,954, according to Grant County Health District data on Monday.
The county’s total rose 127 in a week and rose 883 cases since Jan. 25.
Over the past week, six COVID-19-related deaths were reported, raising the total to 115. Five deaths were pending review Monday. Eight patients were hospitalized. Of the 8,954 people reported as confirmed COVID-19 cases, 8,068 have recovered.
Moses Lake has the most cases, with 3,874 cases, up from 3,435 on Jan. 25. The Quincy area jumped from 1,664 cases to 1,775 cases. The Mattawa area’s total rose 58 since January for a total of 967 cases. On Monday, the total in Ephrata was 842 cases, up from 719.
Royal City’s total was 586 cases, up from 514 cases on Jan. 25. Warden had 24 new cases in that time frame, for a total of 422 reported cases. Soap Lake’s total was 227 reported cases, up from 190. The rural area near Othello in Grant County, has at total of 147 cases, up 15 from the end of January.
Grand Coulee and Coulee City areas have each had two new cases since Jan. 25. Grand Coulee’s total is 29 cases and Coulee City’s is 55. Wilson Creek had only one new case, for a total of 22.
In Grant County, 4,509 cases are male and 4,428 female. Of those 18 years old and younger, there have been 1,494 cases. In those 19 to 40 years old, there have been 3,817 cases. Of those 41 to 60, there were 2,469 cases. The 61 to 80 age group had 978 cases. Of those older than 80, there have been 177 cases. Grant County Health Department noted demographic information may not add up correctly.
On Monday, Adams County reported a total of 1,990 cases of COVID-19. The total rose by eight in the past week and rose 143 from Jan. 25. Since the end of January, the death toll in the county had risen from 15 to 22. Currently, no one is hospitalized with the coronavirus.
So far, 1,853 Adams County residents have recovered. The total of COVID-19 tests performed in the county since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 is 9,806. Negative tests total 7,494.
Of the 1,990 COVID-19 patients in Adams County, 370 were younger than 20. In the 20 to 39 age group, there were 734 patients. In the 40 to 59 age range, there were 567 patients. There are 270 patients in the 60 to 79 range. Forty-nine patients were 80 or older. Males totaled 983 and females 1,007.
Othello has the most cases in the county, with 1,823, up from 1,703 on Jan. 25.
Ritzville’s total rose by 21 since the end of January for a total of 119. Washtucna’s total rose by two, for a total of seven.
Lind held steady during February with 21 cases, Hatton with 18 cases and Benge with two cases.
