Sheriff leases space from Port of Mattawa

MATTAWA — Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies patrolling the Mattawa and southwest Grant County areas will have a new substation beginning July 1.

The GCSO signed an agreement last week to pay $300 per month to the Port of Mattawa to rent 100 square feet of office space, with access to a conference room, at 20140 Road 24 SW.

“The office won’t be staffed daily with personnel, but is available for deputies to use while on patrol,” according to a joint press release from the GCSO and the port.

Previously, the GCSO had a similar office in Desert Aire in space now used as the Desert Aire Visitor Information Center.
