Melvin R. Brice

| June 29, 2021 1:00 AM

Sadly, Mel passed away on June 21, 2021, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He graduated from MLHS in 1970. He went to work at Safeway in Moses Lake, later becoming a feeder driver for the United Parcel Service for a total of 32 years. He had great respect and fondness for his co-workers, calling them “his brothers in brown.” Mel earned many awards and certificates, and finally a class statue for his service. Mel also served as an Army reservist for eight years, being honorably discharged upon his completion.

Mel married “the love of his life,” Carolynne, and they had two sons. They were happily married for 42 years and made their home in Moses Lake. Mel is survived by his loving wife Carolynne, son Aaron and his wife Courtney and four beautiful grandchildren, son Richard, brother-in-law and sister-in-law in England, brothers Billy and Tommy, sisters Brenda and Phaye, mother Betty and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Larry and father “R.D.”

Viewing will be at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories on Pioneer Way, on July 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

At Mel’s request there will be no service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
