Event honoring Chief Moses moves to new date
The date of the Chief Moses Banner Unveiling Ceremony planned for Wednesday has changed. The event, by Downtown Moses Lake Association and Colville Business Council, will be July 6 at 11 a.m. at Sinkiuse Square (306 S. Ash St., Moses Lake).
Speakers and a ceremony will inaugurate banners meant to be a unique addition to the square and celebrate Chief Moses, after whom Moses Lake was named, according to a press release from the DMLA. Chief Moses was the leader of the Sinkiuse-Columbia tribe.
Speakers are to include a direct descendant of Chief Moses, other members of the Colville Business Council, Moses Lake Mayor David Curnel, City Manager Allison Williams and Downtown Moses Lake Association Executive Director Lexi Smith. The event is free to attend, but seating is limited. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or other accommodations.
