RITZVILLE — Adams County Commissioners will interview the lone candidate for the job of Adams County Clerk, Katie Sloan, at 3 p.m. today.

The clerk is the administrator for the Adams County Superior Court.

Adams County Commissioner Dan Blankenship said Friday current clerk, Paulette Teske, announced plans to retire this summer.

Because the clerk is a partisan office and Teske is a Republican, by state law the Adams County Republican committee recommends three candidates to the commissioners, who select a person for the position, Blankenship said, but the committee only recommended one. Whoever is chosen will remain until the end of Teske’s term next year and then can run for election, if desired, for the four-year term.

The interview is open to the public, he said.
