EPHRATA — An Ephrata man died Wednesday morning when he flipped the car he was driving about five miles northeast of Ephrata.

Raymon Simpson, 55, was driving west on state Route 28 at about 10 a.m. when he crossed over the centerline, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol. Simpson’s car left the road to the south and entered a field. The car traveled into a rock pit and hit a boulder, flipping onto its top.

The WSP memo said speed contributed to the collision.

Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.
