MOSES LAKE — Samaritan Healthcare commissioners on Tuesday awarded a $199,378 contract to Spokane Valley-based Jimmy’s Roofing to replace a section of the roof at Samaritan Hospital.

Samaritan Healthcare Chief Administrative Officer Alex Town said the work will begin Monday and is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. About 26,500 square feet of roof will be replaced.

It’s the first of four phases of roof replacement, Town said. The first phase will replace the majority of the structure, including the helipad.

The roof is 20 years old and is starting to leak, Town said. Hospital officials have spent about $115,000 in roof repairs in the last six years.

“It’s outlived its useful life at this point,” Town said.

Hospital officials set aside about $304,000 for roof repair, Town said.
