Riverdogs 15U team 2-0 at Babe Ruth Regionals
The Columbia Basin Riverdogs 15U moved to 2-0 in pool play Tuesday at the Pacific Northwest 13-15 Babe Ruth Regional Tournament in Kelso.
The Riverdogs opened up pool play Monday with a 12-1 win against South Douglas from Oregon. A seven-run fourth inning and a four-run sixth helped the Columbia Basin squad pull away for a big win.
Jackson Carlos led the Riverdogs from the plate, finishing 2-4 with a team-high three RBIs. Carlos added a pair of doubles in the win. Koehn Lyons added another double, finishing 1-2 with one RBI.
Nolan Crawford pitched most of the game. Crawford finished with seven strikeouts, three hits allowed and no runs.
On Tuesday, the Riverdogs picked up three runs in the bottom of the first inning for an early lead. Five runs in the bottom of the fourth stretched the lead to 8-0. The Riverdogs ended with a final score of 10-0.
Carlos finished 2-4 with a triple and one RBI. Cody Roetcisoender led the team with a pair of RBIs, finishing 2-3 from the plate with one double. The Riverdogs finished with eight hits as a team to two for Casper.
Pitching for the Riverdogs was Anson Gustafson, who surrendered no runs on two hits with eight strikeouts.
The Riverdogs will play again tonight at 7 p.m. against the host team from Kelso. With a bye on Thursday, the Columbia Basin team will finish pool play on Friday against the East Montana champions at 1 p.m.
