Moses Lake Fire Department responded just after 3 a.m. Monday to a call for a water alarm system at Carniceria El Primo on 230 N. Elder St. in Moses Lake. Responders discovered the roof of the building had collapsed, causing the alarm system to go off.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the collapse and there were no injuries reported, according to MLFD Deputy Chief Pete Kunjara. Crews did not enter the building, as the structure was deemed unsafe, and red-tagged by the Moses Lake Building Department.

Kunjara said the building department, Grant PUD, the city’s water division and Cascade Natural Gas were contacted to shut off gas and other resources to the building. He said the next steps will be up to the business owners and the city building department.

The building remained taped off as of Monday afternoon.
