Requests for public hearing regarding Othello roundabout due by July 28
OTHELLO — Property owners at the intersection of state Route 17 and West Cunningham Road, which is one of the main entrances to Othello, can request a public hearing on a proposal to build a roundabout at the intersection.
James Reynolds, DOT project engineer, said the Cunningham Road and state Route 17 intersection has been identified as an intersection with a high number of injury collisions.
The design phase of the project is scheduled for 2022, with construction set for 2023.
The DOT “will be acquiring approximately 300 feet of access rights along Cunningham Road on both sides of state Route 17 to prohibit any future access within this area, by purchasing them from the adjoining property owners,” Reynolds said.
The idea is to ensure the approaches to the roundabout, and the property along state Route 17 adjacent to the roundabout, remain undeveloped, Reynolds said.
People who own property in that area can request a public hearing, he said, until July 28.
Property owners can submit a request for a public hearing in writing to Reynolds at the Washington Department of Transportation, 2830 Euclid Ave., Building A, Wenatchee, WA, 98801.
