Paul Wood

Paul Jeffery Wood, 61, passed away on June 22, 2021. He was born in February 1960 in South Carolina and grew up in Moses Lake, Washington. Paul proudly served for 30 years in the Army throughout the U.S., Germany and the Middle East. Following his military retirement, Paul was a financial adviser at Clifton Larson Allen in Washington state until June 2020. In October 2020, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, to be near his children and grandchild.

An avid cyclist, Paul was a member of Adventure Cycling Association and the North Florida Bicycling Club. In Jacksonville, he took an active role in the local bicycling community by promoting cycling safety and working to expand routes throughout Florida. A faithful and devoted Catholic, Paul made time each day for spiritual reflection. He and Michelle cherished their time spent together at mass. Above all, Paul was a proud and loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Michelle; three children Kathryn (David), Kimberly (Conor) and David; granddaughter Rhylee; and siblings Mike Proteau (Rosie), Barbara Wagner, Gloria Slagle (Tom), and Scott. He is predeceased by his parents Orval and Marion Wood, as well as his brother-in-law, Randal Wagner.

A funeral Mass was held Friday, July 2, at 12 p.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 435 First Ave. N., Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
