Gail Lydia Sweeney

Gail Lydia Sweeney, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 27, in her home in Moses Lake, Washington, from cardiac arrest.

Gail was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, and moved to the United States with prospects of becoming a flight attendant. She later met her husband on a blind date. After several years of marriage, she attended Big Bend Community College, followed by Central Washington University, earning an education degree with high honors, and spent many years as a special education teacher in Moses Lake, Washington.

Gail enjoyed reading, playing piano, singing, going to church, arts and crafts and genealogy. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a very kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clara and Vern Peterson and her sister, Elaine Mulholland. She is survived by her husband William Sweeney, her daughter Jackie Sweeney of Sammamish, Washington, her daughter Kimberly Essex (Michael) of Osaka, Japan, her grandchildren Kaeldra Essex and Orion Essex and her brother Grant Peterson of Raymond, Alberta, Canada.

Funeral Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 1515 South Division St., Moses Lake, Washington. Interment was at Guarding Angels Cemetery, Moses Lake, Washington.
