Quincy's Paradise Park neighborhood enters Phase Two of development
QUINCY — Aho Construction just entered its second phase of the Paradise Park neighborhood in Quincy, with buyers able to pick out lots and plans.
Paradise Park is a direct extension of the 400 nearby homes Paradise Flats acquired in 2006, said sales associate Guadalupe Perez. Aho Construction acquired the 68 acres off Jackrabbit Road, just east of Quincy High School, in October 2019. And, the company changed the name to recognize a new city-run park in the area.
The area, on the north side of Quincy, is growing fast, with the public school district’s dazzling new high school a major attraction.
According to ahoconstruction.com, Paradise Park is perfect for “growing families, empty-nesters and active retirees alike,” and a short drive from the Gorge Amphitheatre and Crescent Bar.
The company has been working with future homeowners to upgrade the new homes, including custom floor finishes and new garage door openers.
The development consists of 255 lots, Perez said, with the office at 12 K St. NE. Homeowners can choose from 14 plans, which can be viewed on the company’s website. Also on the Aho Construction website is an interactive plot map and floor plans, from 1,549 to 2,952 square feet, with 360-degree tours of completed homes from extensive photographs.
Homes run between $254,900 and $375,900.
“Due to COVID, we’ve simplified everything, so when you come in here, pretty much you have a lot of the knowledge,” Perez said.
While COVID-19 has made the purchasing process much easier, it’s overall been the company’s biggest obstacle to overcome in the new development, she said. Parts are taking much longer to ship. Windows used to take a week to arrive, she said. Now they take seven.
Lumber costs have increased, too, she said. Apart from that, development was a bit more expensive. For example, building permits cost more because there is a new state electrical code, effective last year.
Aho Construction was founded in 1987 in Vancouver, Wash., by Mel Aho, said John Cooney, director of marketing. Since then, it expanded to developments in Yakima Valley, Tri-Cities, Spokane, Moses Lake and Quincy.
All 70 homes of Phase One are under contract, with framing underway. Phase Two is now open for booking.
“We are committed to supporting the growth and prosperity of Quincy,” Cooney said..
