November 4, 1947 – January 4, 2021

Our beloved Irish lass Kathy Law Kovalesky passed away at the age of 73 in Peoria, Arizona, on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Banner Boswell Medical Center after contracting the COVID-19 virus.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alexander and Eileen Law, brothers Mike and Jerry and daughter-in-law Denise Kovalesky. She is survived by brothers Patrick and Christopher and her biggest cheerleader and loving sister, Maureen Short.

Kathy was born Nov. 4, 1947 in Seattle and raised in Moses Lake Washington. I first met my beautiful Kathy in the seventh grade at Frontier Junior High School. Kathy and I graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1966, where our life began together. After graduating from Moses Lake High School, Kathy attended Kinman Business University in Spokane. She returned to Moses Lake and attended Big Bend Community College.

On Aug. 24, 1968 Kathy and I were married and then moved to Spokane to begin the most wonderful lifelong journey any couple could have. She was a spirited, headstrong woman with an insatiable desire for life. Kathy loved, cherished and defended her friends with every inch of her heart and soul. She touched more lives than any of us will ever know.

Kathy’s proudest accomplishments are her two sons Scott and Kevin. These two rough gems became the brightest diamonds in her life. Kathy passionately loved her grandchildren who lovingly called her Nani: Jeremy, Courtney (her “Stinkybug”), Reyna, her youngest granddaughter Haylie (her special Christmas Baking Buddy) and her great-grandson Jeremy Jayden. Kevin’s wife Gale held two spots in Kathy’s life: daughter-in-law and the daughter we never had.

I am blessed to have spent 52 years with the most wonderful woman I have ever known, my wife and mother of our children, my confidant and forever best friend. Kathy, you will be forever missed as we move forward with a hole in our hearts. I love you so much and long to hold your hand and gaze into your eyes just one more time.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that you make a contribution to one of Kathy’s beloved charities, the Glenn Garcelon Foundation at glenngarcelonfoundation.org, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at donate.lls.org. Please be sure to select “personalize your donation” and make it in honor of our beloved Kathy.
