Letter: Voter integrity suggestions

| January 21, 2021 1:00 AM

The following measures should be taken to ensure the integrity of elections:

A photo ID card with precinct listed on the card should be required. To get the ID card the person must provide date and place of birth and address of residence. Immigrants must provide proof of citizenship to get an ID card.

To get an absentee ballot a person must apply with the ID card as proof of eligibility.

All voting must be done on Election Day only – no early voting.

All voting must be done in person and voters must sign the election register to get a ballot.

All counties must provide enough precincts to give all voters ample time to vote.

Election Day should be declared a national holiday, making it easy to have time to vote.

Partisan count observers must be at every vote counting location to watch verification of signatures on absentee ballots. Observers must be allowed to be close enough actually to see signature verification.

A penalty amount should be established for election workers who refuse to allow observers to witness the counting process.
