James Ellis Tincher

| January 20, 2021 1:00 AM

Jim was born Aug. 15, 1954 in an old Air Force barrack where the current Moses Lake city library now stands. He was an active young man, riding his bike all over town, playing softball and volleyball, and fishing with his dad. Jim was a member of the Moses Lake High School Class of 1972 and maintained friendships with many of his classmates throughout his life. He attended Wenatchee Valley College and earned an associate’s degree at Spokane Community College.

Both his parents were avid bowlers and Jim spent many hours at the bowling alley where he became a good bowler. Jim was a member of the Ripple softball team and a city volleyball team called the Fat Boys. He enjoyed playing handball and participated in staff-versus-students athletic events. When BBCC had Spring Fling runs he was always there to help. Jim was a diehard Seattle Mariners fan and a great supporter of BBCC Viking athletics.

Jim celebrated his 35th anniversary as an employee at Big Bend Community College the week before his death in early December 2020. He developed lifelong friendships with his co-workers, whom he thought of as family. He had good relationships with faculty, administrators and staff. He took pride in the growth and history of BBCC. Jim reveled in a good snowstorm. He would be the first person on campus ready to battle with the falling snow, taking pride in plowing the campus roads and parking lots to keep students and staff safe and for which he received an award.

The Jim Tincher Scholarship has been set-up and donations may be made through the BBCC Foundation, www.bigbend.edu/i-am/foundation.

Jimmy, your Big Bend family and your friends miss you immensely and will never forget you.
