Car parade to honor retiring chief
ROYAL CITY — Retiring Royal City Police Chief Darin Smith will be recognized with a car parade from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Jan. 29, starting at 445 Camelia St. N.E., but civilians can join anywhere on the route.
The parade route will pass Royal City Lions Park on Camelia Street Northwest and loop around Evergreen and Acacia streets back to the starting point.
Smith recently announced his retirement, after more than 30 years in law enforcement.
“Feel free to decorate your vehicle as this is a great achievement for Chief Smith,” said an announcement on RCPD social media. “If you would like to leave a card, there will be a drop box.”
