MOSES LAKE — Two Moses Lake residents were arrested Friday in connection with the robbery of a woman at gunpoint inside her apartment, according to police.

Miguel Chavez Amezcua, 28, and Monica Ellen Gonzales, 33, were booked on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree theft and second-degree vehicle prowling. Gonzales faces a possible charge of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Amezcua was booked on first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, as well as an outstanding warrant related to possession of a controlled substance.

Gonzales reportedly got into a physical altercation with the victim sometime around noon on Friday, said Moses Lake Police Cpt. Mike Williams in an interview. Amezcua then allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and the pair proceeded to steal a phone and other miscellaneous items from the apartment. At some point during the robbery, Amezcua reportedly passed the gun to Gonzales, Williams said.

The two suspects then allegedly fled to an apartment a short distance away, where they were arrested later the same day.
