Janet Helen Hanson

Janet Helen Hanson, 86, of Moses Lake, Washington, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, after her fight with congestive heart failure. She passed away peacefully in her home with her family present.

Janet was raised in Portland, Oregon, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1953. Soon after graduation she married Gene Hanson. They were married for 67 years, raising their boys Jeff, Gerry and Jim in the Salem and Tigard areas.

She worked in the Tigard School District for 10 years. Her family was deeply involved in school and community activities and sports. She could always be found in the stands watching and supporting her kids’ sporting events.

She enjoyed the outdoors and travel. She would take the family to their favorite camping spot in Central Oregon each year with her brother and his family and their close neighborhood friends’ family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV. They traveled across the Western United States, with their favorite spot being Alaska.

Janet is survived by her younger brother Larry, her husband Gene and their two sons Jeff and Jim, her seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service is scheduled for Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. in Moses Lake at Journey Church, 303 E. Nelson Road. Cards and/or memorabilia can be mailed to 269 Karl Road NE, Moses Lake.
