A two-vehicle collision Tuesday night at state Route 17 and Nelson Road in Moses Lake sent four locals to the hospital with injuries, one of whom was accused of vehicular assault and driving under the influence, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Evodio Morales Reyes, 21, of Othello, was driving his gold 1990 Honda Civic just before 10:22 p.m. south on state Route 17, approaching Nelson Road, and failed to stop at a red light, striking a gold 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Vitalii Kuzhel, 22, of Moses Lake, who was trying to turn left onto state Route 17.

Morales Reyes, Kuzhel and one of Kuzhel’s passengers, David Vorobey, 20, of Moses Lake were taken to Samaritan Hospital and flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for their injuries.

Morales Reyes’ passenger, Luis A. Rodriguez, 22, of Warden, was taken to Samaritan Hospital. Kuzhel’s second passenger, Anitolii Nakonechnyi, 18, of Moses Lake, was the only one uninjured.

The WSP planned to file two counts of vehicular assault and DUI charges with prosecutors against Morales Reyes.

Both vehicles were totaled and impounded.
