Othello boys squeak win over Ephrata

EPHRATA — The Othello High School boys basketball team overtook the Ephrata High School Tigers in a close league matchup Friday.

Ephrata got a quick, but small lead over Othello, up by four points at the end of the first quarter and up by five points by halftime. Ephrata was still leading at the end of the third quarter, 47-43. In the fourth quarter, Othello got the jump on the Tigers and pulled ahead to take the game by three. The final score was Othello 63, Ephrata 60.

The top scorers for the game were Ephrata High School senior Ethan Black with 20 points and Othello High School sophomore Ashton Pruneda with 18 points.

Othello’s record is now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the Central Washington Athletic Conference after a loss of 55-73 to Selah High School on Saturday. Ephrata’s win-loss record is 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Othello plays next against Quincy High School at Quincy on Dec. 30. Ephrata goes up against Lakewood High School on Dec. 28 at the Yakima Valley Sundome.
