Paul Mark Harder

| December 20, 2021 1:00 AM

April 18, 1959 – December 4, 2021

Paul entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Dec. 4, 2021.

Paul M. Harder was born and raised in Moses Lake. He attended school here in Moses Lake and, after graduating from MLHS, spent a year at what was then Western Baptist Bible College in Salem, Oregon, where he met his future wife, Ann.

Paul and Ann moved to Moses Lake in the early ’80s and were blessed with two boys a few years later. Family was a number one priority for Paul.

Paul worked for Rainier Bank and was also a reserve for the Moses Lake Police Department for four years. He went to work for the Moses Lake Police Department full-time in 1986. He held many positions over his 27-year career: EVOC instructor, detective, field training officer, negotiator, corporal and detective, and was a sergeant at the time of his retirement on Nov. 14, 2013. He loved his job and was excellent at it. It was truly his calling. When someone asked him why he chose to be a policeman, he said “It may sound corny, but I just want to help people,” and did an amazing job of it.

After retirement he went to work at what he called his “paid hobby” at the Legacy Resort at Frenchmen Hills Golf Course mowing fairways, and he was very precise about his lines on them. He loved to golf and loved the community of people there.

Paul was an active member of First Baptist Church, Moses Lake. He loved his Lord and his church.

He loved to tear up the sand at the dunes in the side-by-side with friends and family and loved riding his motorcycle every chance he got, sometimes even in the snow. Camping in the mountains was a favorite activity every summer. He had a love for cars and loved attending car shows.

Paul was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law. He is survived by his wife Ann, two sons Josh Harder and Joel (Melissa) Harder, two granddaughters, his mother Marilee, and two brothers Peter (Nan) Harder and Phillip Harder.

A memorial service is planned for after the first of the year. Details will be posted on the website for Hennessey Funeral Home in Spokane, Washington, www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com.
