EPHRATA — The Othello High School Lady Huskies basketball team saw victory over the Ephrata High School Lady Tigers in a league matchup Friday.

Othello got ahead and stayed ahead. The Lady Huskies had a six-point lead going into the second quarter.

Ephrata put up one heck of a fight, nearly keeping pace with Othello. The Lady Huskies pushed on until the end of the game and won, 54-42.

“Ephrata and Othello girls always have great battles. We respect their team and coach tremendously. This game was no different. We just outlasted them this time. Our team worked hard all week at practice preparing and we executed well,” Othello girls head basketball coach Adolfo Coronado said.

Coronado gave praise to a few of his players: junior Annalee Coronado, who scored the game high of 22 points; junior Brianna Andrade (12 points) and senior Ashley Perez, who were tasked with slowing down Ephrata’s biggest player and did a good job; and sophomore Persayis Garza and senior Hailee Guzman, who did a great job on the boards and “pestering” their opponents.

Coronado wished Ephrata good luck prior to its game against Ellensburg High School, which Ephrata ended up losing, 69-24.

The Lady Tigers are now 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the Central Washington Athletic Conference.

The Lady Huskies are 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
