Two injured, another jailed in possible DUI collision

TTwo men were injured and another was jailed due to a possible DUI collision Friday morning on state Route 24, east of Mattawa, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Victor Policarpio Pineda, 26, of Othello, was allegedly under the influence whil driving a black 2009 Toyota Scion east on state Route 24 just before 6 a.m. when the car veered to the right at milepost 55, left the road on the eastbound shoulder, rotated and rolled before stopping on its top.

The backseat passenger, Herman A. Eljildo, 24, of an unprovided residence, was ejected and came to rest on the shoulder. He then was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for his injuries.

Another passenger, Avelino Rosette Porifirio, 21, also of an unprovided residence, was taken to Othello Community Hospital for his injuries.

Policarpio Pineda was taken to the Grant County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault. The WSP said the cause of the collision was driving under the influence.

The car was totaled.
