| December 17, 2021 1:00 AM

May 30, 1920 – December 8, 2021

Louise Colby (Weetzi) Piper passed away at home in Moses Lake, Washington, Dec. 8, 2021. She was 101 years old.

Louise was born in San Diego on May 30, 1920, one of five children. She attended Sweetwater High School, where she met Henry Piper. They were married June 22, 1941. Louise and Henry raised four boys in a two-bedroom home in Chula Vista, California, before moving to Bonita.

Farming was the family business, and Louise worked for Chula Vista Vegetable Exchange and Variable Growers as a secretary and bookkeeper. Louise and Henry moved to Moses Lake in 1992, where she also was a bookkeeper for Piper Ranch.

She loved to square dance with Henry and friends in Chula Vista. She was a fantastic seamstress and quilter. After moving to Moses Lake, she sewed for her family, and spent many hours quilting with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter, even taking more classes herself. She could text with the best of us, emojis and all! Over the years she had many opportunities to travel with her family and friends.

After Henry passed away in 1993, Louise lived independently in her two-story house until just four days before she passed.

Preceding her in death were her oldest son Dan, her grandson Jeffrey Piper, her sisters Glendon Layton and Dorothy Lowe and her brother Thomas Shelton.

She is survived by her sister Helen Cameron, Dan’s wife Sheila, Dr. James Piper and wife Marcia, Thomas Michael Piper and wife Sandy and Stephen and wife Melodie Jo. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren (another on the way), eight great-great-grandchildren and countless people she has touched along the way.
