City council member to be celebrated

Longtime Ephrata City Council member Mark Wanke will be honored with an open house 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ephrata City Hall, 121 Alder St. SW, preceding the city council meeting.

At the meeting, he also will be recognized, according to the city council meeting agenda. Wanke did not seek re-election this year and his term ends Dec. 31.

Wanke has been on the council for 32 years and involved in many other civic activities.
