Randy Layne Barkle

Randy Layne Barkle passed away Dec. 3, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital, from renal failure. He was born January 23, 1952, in Tremonton, Utah, to Lyndon F. and Ruth (Sandall) Barkle. In 1953, the Barkle family moved to Moses Lake with U & I Sugar. Randy graduated in 1970 and married Susan Howe that same year. After graduation, Randy went to work for U & I. In 1976, he started at AAA Readymix for a 30-year career as a mixer truck operator.

Randy was an avid four-wheeler. He bought his first Jeep in 1971, a 1947 Willys, and his second one in 1974, a ’74 CJ-5 Yellow Renegade, still in the garage. He was past member of the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association, past Region 4 vice president for the PNW4WDA and a past Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. He loved the mountain trails, four-wheeling and camping.

Randy is survived by his wife of 51 years Susan; son Joey (Kendra) Barkle; grandchildren Collin and Myca of Moses Lake and Korisa of Sequim and great-grandson Chase; sisters Joyce McGregor of St. George, Utah, and RuEllyn Benedict of Twenty-Nine Palms, California; and brothers Reo Barkle of Yucca Valley, California, and Kevin Barkle of Moses Lake, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lyndon and Ruth and sisters Marieta Peterson, Jolene Nordal and Sherry Dompier.

A Celebration of Life will be held Dec. 17, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Moses Lake Elks Lodge on Stratford Road. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter (Randy was an animal lover) or the Blue Ribbon Coalition.
