February 25, 1927 – August 21, 2021

Felix Ramarui, 94, passed away on August 21, 2021, at his home in Moses Lake, Washington, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife Frances of Harlingen, Texas; daughters Kathy “Ram” Ramarui of Chelan, Washington and her son Samuel Hawley; Tammy Nease of Bellingham, Washington and her children Desi Nease, Adam Nease, Cole Nease and David Rudd; Sherry Buell and husband Mike of Marysville, Washington, and their children Frances Sophie Haines and husband Grant, Brooke Brady and husband Tim, Jason Felix Gann and Derek Gann; great-grandchildren Conner, Ezra, Isabel, Todd, Ellie, Luke, Logan, Isaac and Kamden; many nieces and nephews; and closest friends Sylvia Lara, Carol and Harvey Hirai, Leroy and Lois Ledeboer and Myron Rill, as well as many others.

Felix was born on Feb. 25, 1927, in the village of Babeldaob, on the island of Palau in Micronesia. He was the first from his island to come to the United States to study. He attended the University of Idaho Medical School and had a long career as a clinical pathologist and X-ray technician.

He met his wife Frances at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, where he worked in the lab and she in the nursing department. Their 60-year marriage began on Aug. 12, 1961;, she lovingly referred to him as “my old goat” and they raised three daughters.

He was an avid fisherman. People knew to follow the “friendly little man in the orange boat” to find where the fish were biting. He never hesitated to share how he was catching them and would often give his tackle, with a lesson on how to use it, to help someone having no luck. If that didn’t work, he would give them his fish.

He also gardened and enjoyed canning a large variety of foods, most of which he gave to family, friends and even friends of friends.

His generosity knew no bounds and was epitomized in the philosophy that he lived by, “always share” and “if you have two of something, you always give the best one.”

What mattered most to Felix was his family. The love that he had for his wife and daughters was unconditional and as deep as the sea. But his absolute pride and joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And because of the way that he loved them, the beautiful spirit of this wonderful man will forever live on through their eyes, as they make their way through the world.

We love you and we will miss you every day.

Until we meet again.
