Kevin Brian Moore
On Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, loving husband and father Kevin Brian Moore passed away at the age of 65. Kevin leaves behind his wife of 46 years Elizabeth, two daughters Rebecca and Angela and granddaughter Katherine.
Kevin was born in Spokane, Washington, in 1956 to Martin and Arlene Moore of Lewiston, Idaho. The family moved to Moses Lake, Washington, in 1958 to farm in Mae Valley. Kevin grew up helping his family farm and learning how to be a mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with his grandparents in Reubens, Idaho, on their ranch. Kevin and his grandfather Charles spent a lot of time horseback riding.
Kevin graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1974 and went on to earn his welding certificate from BBCC. He worked at U&I Sugar and also worked for his father’s business, Viking Industries. In 1975, he met his future wife, Elizabeth, and they were married in 1976 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moses Lake.
Kevin was very active in the community and enjoyed helping others and volunteering for organizations that he strongly believed in. He volunteered with the local Republican Party and Lutheran Church. Kevin was also a caregiver for his father for many years.
Over the years, Kevin pursued many hobbies. He loved driving and restoring his 1968 and 1969 Dodge Chargers and 1974 Harley Sportster. Kevin was an avid hunter and gunsmith and experienced marksman who competed in many shooting and target competitions. He also reveled in playing the guitar and mandolin; he could play anything by ear. Kevin was a member of a few local rock bands in the ’80s and ’90s. He also spent time playing foosball and with model trains.
Kevin earned his pilot’s license in 2010. Flying his 172 Cessna was a dream come true for him and his family was very proud of this accomplishment. Kevin and his father used to put on old-fashioned threshing bees for the community. He was a master at restoring antique farm equipment and steam engines.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Calista Arlene Moore (Brackett), his father-in-law James George McCallin, his brother-in-law Karl James McCallin and his best friend Mark Hara of Moses Lake. He is survived by his father Marion Martin Moore of Moses Lake. He is also survived by his wife Elizabeth Marie Moore and daughters Rebecca Angel Moore and Angela Dawn Moore (Brian), all of Moses Lake; his granddaughter Katherine Louise Moore (Colby) of Quincy; his mother-in-law Joanne Marie McCallin of Ephrata; his aunt Marilyn Moore and uncles John Moore and Steve Moore, all of Moses Lake; his uncles Chuck Brackett (Pearl) and Jim Brackett (Eileen) of Reubens, Idaho; his aunt Rena Schroader (Chuck) of Caldwell, Idaho; his aunt Rosemarie Koplau of Venice, Florida; his uncle Louis Koplau of Aberdeen, Washington; his brothers Marty and Jeff Moore, both of Moses Lake; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and an abundance of close friends. Kevin will be dearly missed by his beloved cats Bosco, Paisley, Shadow, Minnie and Pepper, and his house pet Puppo.
