EPHRATA — Grant County officials are looking for a volunteer to serve on the county’s Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC).

Jerry Gingrich, deputy clerk for the Grant County Commissioners, said applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

“Representation from the southern portion of Grant County is preferred but not required,” Gingrich said Tuesday.

The SWAC helps develop policies and programs for solid waste handling and dispersal, Gingrich said. Its members also work on preparing waste management plans, and review and comment on proposed rules, policies and ordinances prior to their adoption.

“Participation primarily entails reading materials and attending meetings to provide input. Members are asked to attend a majority of the meetings, which are held quarterly in Ephrata. There is no compensation for attending meetings,” Gingrich said.

People interested in applying for the position must fill out an application. It’s available on the county website, www.grantcountywa.gov, on the “Important Announcements” page. People who want more information can contact Joan Sieverkropp, 509-754-2011 extension 3508, or [email protected].
