Fire district collects for the hungry, breaks record

QUINCY — Grant County Fire District 3, based in Quincy, held its annual food drive on April 18, according to a press release from the district.

Firefighters on fire engines canvassed the city of Quincy in the afternoon, collecting non-perishable food donations. Their efforts weren’t in vain; a record 3,800 pounds of food was collected, 600 more than the previous record. In addition, the volunteers collected cash donations adding up to $140.

Besides individual residents of Quincy, donations came from Grace City Church, Bimbo Bread and Central Washington Nursery.

All donations collected go to the Quincy Food Bank.
