MOSES LAKE — Sumner-based Mitchell Development LLC is applying for a 57-lot residential development in Moses Lake’s Mae Valley area.

The development, called The Refuge, is proposed for north of West Westlake Road, between North Frontage Road and Montana Street.

The project will be one of 12 recent developments in the Mae Valley area, said Moses Lake public information officer Lynne Lynch.

Aho Construction is in the process of completing Sun Terrace, an area of eight subdivisions, and Hayden Homes is completing Sagecrest, which is an additional three subdivisions.

The Refuge is to be built in two phases, on a timeline not yet set in stone, Lynch said. Moses Lake-based Columbia Basin Engineering is in charge of surveying the land, acquiring permits and engineering the plat.

A public hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 11 via remote access only for the hearing examiner to decide on the preliminary plat and recommendations on deferrals, deviations or waivers requested for in Mitchell Development LLC’s November application.
