COVID-19 vaccine eligibility expanded
RITZVILLE — Adams County Health Department officials announced eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines for people age 16 and older, as expanded guidelines went into effect statewide Thursday.
Karen Potts, ACHD community health director, said some extra guidelines exist for those aged 16 and 17. People younger than 18 need parental permission to receive the vaccine and must have a signed consent form before they can get the shot. Emancipated minors can get the vaccine without parental permission, but they must have supporting documentation of their status. Additionally, only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for 16- and 17-year-olds, Potts said.
Vaccines are available at two locations in Othello and two in Ritzville, she said. Appointments are required. Vaccinations are at the Columbia Basin Health Association clinic, 1515 E. Columbia St,, Othello, 509-488-5256; and at the Walmart pharmacy in Othello, 1860 E. Main St. People can schedule an appointment through the Walmart website, www.walmart.com/covidvaccine.
